Sunday, Oct. 3

San Diego British Car Day ---- The San Diego British Car Club Council's 31st annual car fair featuring some 350 British cars will be on display (car owners can register their vehicles beginning at 7:30 a.m.), organized by marque (that's British for brand). While the show is organized by and primarily for owners of British cars (with local car clubs pulling the event together); this year's featured marque is the Austin-Healey 3000, which is celebrating its 50th year; the public is also invited to take in the cars and the approximately 30 vendor booths selling British automotive-themed items; the Cameron Highlanders bagpipers will also entertain; 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; Ingram Plaza, Liberty Station, 2580 Historic Decatur Road, Point Loma; free; www.sandiegobritishcarday.org.

Fitness fest ----- The Encinitas Parks and Recreation department hosts its third annual Feeling Fit Festival, featuring a wide array of fun: family activities including guided trail hikes, sports clinics and games, fitness class demonstrations, jump houses for different ages, a 30-foot rock-climbing wall and bungee trampolines. Julian Apple Days Festival ---- More than 45,000 people are expected at this two-day event, celebrating the fall apple harvest, features an apple pie bake-off contest, apple pie-eating contests, apple displays, U-pick apple opportunities, apple crafts, a vintage farm tractor display, a farm animal petting zoo, and carnival games. La Mesa Oktoberfest concludes ---- The 37th annual La Mesa Oktoberfest, billed by organizers as the "Grand Daddy" of local Oktoberfests, has been called the largest Oktoberfest celebration west of the Mississippi. The festival features six city blocks of entertainment, including 400 vendor and craft booths, five food courts, three beer gardens and a children's carnival; noon-6 p.m.; Allison Avenue, Date Avenue and La Mesa Boulevard; parking is limited, so ride the Orange Trolley line to La Mesa Boulevard stop; www.lmvma.com/lmv_oktoberfest.html.

El Cajon Oktoberfest continues ---- The German-American Societies of San Diego presents the El Cajon Oktoberfest, billed as the county's longest-running Oktoberfest celebration, during the first two weekends of October. The 39th annual festival features Germany's Guggenbach-Baum band, German food, beer, kids' zone, games, contests and more; noon-9 p.m. (4-10 p.m. Friday, noon-10 p.m. Saturday and noon-9 p.m. Oct. 10); 1017 S. Santa Fe Market ----- Bazaar del Mundo in Old Town San Diego hosts its 23rd annual festival of arts and crafts from the cultures of American Indians and the American Southwest. On display will be works by members of the Navajo, Cherokee, Hopi, Pima, Isleta Pueblo and Santo Domingo Pueblo tribe members, along with other noted Southwestern artists.
